Victim, alleged attacker had dated twin sisters

A man who dated a woman is accused of killing another man in Costa Mesa who had dated her twin sister, police said.

Steven Craig DePhillips, 40, was discovered Aug. 30 lying in the driveway of the Capri Lane home where his 6-year-old daughter lived with her grandparents, the grandfather, Raymond Gregory, told the Daily Pilot.

DePhillips, who worked in the electronic recycling industry, often visited his daughter, Catherine, at the home. The girl's mother is Laura Gregory, one of Gregory's twin daughters.

DePhillips was working on making improvements to the home and was killed in the entryway. He died of stab wounds to his upper body.
Police said DePhillips had an altercation with Jeffrey Alec Henderson, 50, during which he was stabbed.

Gregory said he hadn't seen Henderson in a while, but knew Henderson because in the past he had dated his other twin daughter, Lisa.
