93-year-old woman pistol-whipped, tied up in home-invasion robbery
Riverside County sheriff's investigators are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect who pistol-whipped a 93-year-old woman and her caretaker during a home-invasion robbery in the small town of Nuevo.
A masked man entered the elderly woman's home in the 31000 block of Nuevo Road about 10:10 p.m. Friday, breaking in through a back door, authorities said. The man struck the caretaker with his weapon, rendering her unconscious.
He then entered the elderly woman's bedroom, tied her up and struck her with the gun, sheriff's investigators said. He robbed the home of personal items and drove the woman's car out of the garage, they said.
The vehicle was found abandoned a few blocks away. Both women were taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
They described the suspect as a man about 5-foot-10 to 6-foot tall, wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.
