Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier

Take a sun-powered spin on the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel. Breathe in the salty ocean air, then let it all out in a scream as you dive toward the Pacific on a steel coaster. Opened in 1916, this historic seaside park continues to thrill.

Visit the iconic Santa Monica Pier and ride the landmark Ferris wheel over the Pacific—the world’s only solar-powered Ferris wheel at the West Coast’s only waterfront family amusement park! The historic tradition of amusements and thrill rides at the Pier that started in 1916 continues today in beautiful Pacific Park, and with your pass you can enjoy unlimited entertainment on 12 different rides. You’ll also have the chance to try your hand at some games that will test your skill, and then gorge yourself on that traditional American theme park food—everything from funnel cakes to cotton candy and tacos! Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier has something for people of all ages, and visitors will enjoy its old-world feel.

Here’s a glimpse of the some of the rides you can expect to find at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier:

Inkie’s Wave Jumper: A super-cool pier-top surf ride that rotates, letting riders jump up and down and bounce as if they were really riding a wave.

Inkie’s Pirate Ship: Ride this exhilarating pirate ship that rocks you and lifts you up and down as if you were out on the high seas in the days of the swashbuckling pirates!

West Coaster: The only West Coast, oceanfront, steel roller coaster located on a pier over the Pacific Coastline (a very specific title!) that lifts you 55 feet in the air and gets you all misty with saltwater spray from the waves below! Check out the spectacular views from the top!

Pacific Plunge: A 9-story tower ride that makes you feel completely weightless as it whizzes you 150 feet over the Santa Monica Bay in a 10-seat gondola before dropping you in a freefall!

Frog Hopper: This ride bounces young riders straight up and down to heights of 18 feet, taking some exciting plunges!

When you’re done checking out the rides, you can opt to try your hand at a few of Pacific Park’s traditional “pay per-play” pier games, such as “Wac-A-Mole”, “Riptide Ring Toss”, “Roller Derby”, “Break A Plate”, and the risky “Pier Plank Plunge” (prices not included with admission). Afterwards, satisfy your cravings with an iced mocha drink from the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, a funnel cake, or some traditional fare from the Harbor Grill or Café Inkie! You can also get great seafood overlooking the ocean at The Lobster Restaurant or Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Factory.

Some will want to visit Pacific Park for the rides, others for the arcade-style games, and others just to experience being out on the magnificent Pacific with the breeze in their hair. Whatever your interests, Pacific Park provides a great, low-key alternative to the more mainstream amusement parks in the area and should be a stop on any traveler’s itinerary!
