San Diego is home to Balboa Park, called "a landscape of art and culture." The Spanish Village Art Center inside the park features 37 working artist studios and galleries hosting over 200 artists representing many art media. Daily arts and crafts demonstrations allow visitors to interact with the artisans and learn about their crafts. Local sculptors, clay artists, fiber artists, weavers, photographers, gourd artists, painters, jewelery designers and metalsmiths are among those who display their skills.
Los Angeles Area

The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs has 18 cultural centers dedicated to teaching the arts. The centers provide classes and many kinds of interactive opportunities for the diverse Los Angeles community. With a slide registry of over 2,000 California artists, and neighborhood facilities designed to support arts activities, the department successfully links many local artists and students. This online collection of hundreds of murals provides locations of outdoor murals so that art enthusiasts can develop their own mural walk. The mural artists, when known, are given credit for their work. The unknown, little known, and well-known artists, such as Diego Rivera, are organized alphabetically, providing a view into one facet of San Francisco's diverse arts and crafts offerings.
Indigenous California Artisans

Indigenous California artisans are found throughout the state. Native California Indian tribes strive to promote their work and sell their wares at local historic sites, art stores and online websites. Handmade clothing, basketry, musical instruments and tools are some items that are sold or made in educational workshops. Although indigenous peoples seek to preserve native arts and crafts, Native California artisans are also creating artistic works inspired by fine and folk art, using every medium imaginable.
